A love song(Poetry Thursday)

I want to sing a love song
A song for myself
A song for all these years
of joy and sorrows on this planet

I want to sing a love song
A song for my father
A song for the love and care he gave
For his young son

I want to sing a love song
A song for my great friend
A song for his braveries
Who died fighting in the battlefield

I want to sing a love song
A song for my sweethearts
Who were left behind
With the passage of time

I want to sing a love song
A song for the farmer
Who toils in the fields
Day and night, night and day

I want to sing a love song
A song for the unknown strangers
Who I could never thank
Who I would never meet

I want to sing a love song
A song for my enemies
If it were not you
The journey so far had been monotonous

I want to sing a love song
A song for my teachers
Who taught me the alphabets of life
Who guided me from the darkness to the light

I want to sing a love song
A song for the divine
For all the great gifts
For the gift of this life

Above all I want to sing a love song
A love song for my mother
Who brought me into this world
In whose ocean of love I live submerged

I truly enjoyed all your songs, they told me a lot about you, I especially loved your song to your Mother, that we all should have that ocean of love to swim in, thank you for sharing you with us..

Hey Abhay, I responded to this post earlier but Blogger isn't playing nicely today. Just wanted to say I loved this post. The sentiment is outstanding. Of course it needs to be set to music.
Love you blog - I'll be bck to hunt around when I have more time.
BTW thanks for visiting Pendragons.

Hello Abhay,
Looks like this is my trademark carelessness, thinking that Anna wrote the poem.
As you are both clever poets and listed next to each other on my blog.
Abhay, now you know what I think of your poem & Anna, now you know what I think of you.
And now both of you know what a scatterbrain I am.
Abhay, if you can find a way to delete the comment above, I'd so appreciate it.
thanks

These words were beautiful Abhay. This is a song the world should sing together. I especially liked:

"Above all I want to sing a love song
A love song for my mother
Who brought me into this world
In whose ocean of love I live submerged"

I'm sure your mom is touched :-)

And very wise words: "I want to sing a love song
A song for my enemies
If it were not you
The journey so far had been monotonous"

Hope to read more of your poetry soon!

Sighing is human but singing is divine. Sing for a love and sing being unrequited; sing in expectation and sing in despair--singing is as natural as drops of tear shed in silence. Only a brave man can sing.

Thanks for the evocative words, Abhay.

Sincerely
Nanda
